Position Description:

The St. David's School of Nursing at Texas State University seeks a to hire four (4) dynamic, innovative educators interested in a faculty position in a rapidly evolving environment. Qualified candidates are passionate about teaching and mentoring nursing students, have a reputation for collegial interactions, and are committed to research, scholarship, and service.

Candidates are committed to preparing graduates who are caring nurses, patient advocates, and visionary leaders.

The nine-month tenure-track appointment, with possible summer employment, reports to the Director, St. David's School of Nursing on the Texas State University's Round Rock Campus. The school of nursing is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health Professions.

The responsibilities include participation in curriculum development and teaching courses across programs (B.S.N. and/or M.S.N.) where qualified. Interest in and ability to utilize simulation is a requirement for teaching in the nursing programs. A program of research is required, as well as academic service to the department, college and university.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will be given the appropriate rank and title based on college and university established policies and standards.

Required Qualifications:

For all ranks:

  • Earned doctorate degree in nursing or related field AND a B.S.N. or M.S.N. If a doctorate degree is in progress, must be awarded prior to the start date.
  • Eligible for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas.
  • Demonstrated current clinical competence as a Registered Nurse with at least two years of experience.
  • Record of accomplishments in scholarly endeavors such as research, and/or data-driven quality improvement projects, teaching, and academic or professional service.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning (classroom, virtual, simulation, lab), and consistent with the nursing program's vision, mission, and goals demonstrated during on campus interview and presentation.
For the rank of Associate Professor, in addition to those required above:
  • A demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and demonstrable potential for continued achievement in no more than two focused areas of scholarship or programs of research.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience in a professional school of nursing, or equivalent teaching experience at the university level.
  • Demonstrated sustained service to a school/college of nursing, the nursing profession, and the community.
  • Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.
For the rank of Professor, in addition to those required above:
  • A demonstrated record of significant contributions in scholarship and grantsmanship, supporting recognition as an expert in the field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of full-time teaching experience at the university level with demonstrated teaching excellence and leadership activities, such as curriculum development and mentorship.
  • Demonstrated increasing leadership roles across all levels of service.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong potential for sustained scholarly accomplishments and grantsmanship.
  • Certified in one or more nursing specialties.
  • Demonstrated collegial leadership and team development.
  • Experience in higher education including accreditation, program review, assessment, and curriculum design.
  • Teaching experience with formats of distance education and/or online instruction.
  • Teaching experience with simulation or virtual education.
  • Experience in building and/or promoting communication, relationships, and partnerships in clinical or academic settings.
