We are looking for an Operator to join our Petersen team in Phoenix, AZ.

Primary Purpose

As an operator, this position's primary function is to follow daily manufacturing work orders by operating metal fabrication equipment, complete production tickets for our contractors/customers job sites, assist in maintaining the production floor's overall cleanliness and organization, and operate a forklift to load/unload delivery & customer vehicles.
Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

* Set up and operation of various metal fabrication machines, such as a shear, slit, press break, gutters, etc.
* Provide support in the shipping department, including receiving and placing orders in their proper location.
* Follow daily manufacturing work orders giving special attention to various materials, profiles, special ribbing, perforating and striation tooling and adding any needed specific notations.
* Assist with roll forming set up, change-over, loading & unloading coils.
* Crate/palletize finished panels and goods.
* Perform quality checks to verify proper lengths, widths, paint finish discrepancies, and weights are adhered to using the necessary tools.
* Delivery of finished products to the customers/contractors.
* Perform preventative maintenance & repairs on machinery and equipment, ensuring they are functioning according to the established work and safety standards.

* Basic mathematics (use of a calculator), ability to read a tape measure, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Driving a flat-bed pickup truck.

Equipment Used

This position uses the following equipment in the course of the job duties:

Forklift, metal fabrication equipment,

Ruler, measuring tape, calipers, and other measuring devices.

Working Conditions

The work environment is a dynamic, fast-paced metal fabrication warehouse. The ambient temperature fluctuates based on weather and employees are exposed to increased noise levels

Physical Requirements

* Standing for extended periods of time.
* Ability to walk on concrete surfaces.
* Bend, twist, and proper lifting techniques.
* Must be able to lift 75 pounds minimum.
* Routinely getting on and off forklifts as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used

* Safety toe boots (steel or composite).
* Company provided safety glasses and hearing protection.
* Company provided cut resistant gloves and arm guards.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Desired Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED, preferred but not required

Licenses/Certifications: Drivers License Required

Experience: 1-2 years in a metal fabrication environment is preferred but not required.

Technical Knowledge: Basic mathematics, including the use of a calculator and tape measure.

Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills.
