The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases has an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Coordinator. The Outreach Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs, and assumes responsibility for creating, planning, preparing, and executing varied programs to reach targeted populations.

  • Community Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact between Miami Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the local community, fostering meaningful relationships and trust.
  • Event Coordination: Plan and execute outreach events to promote awareness of CFAR's research initiatives and engage community members.
  • Plans promotional, educational, and other events to increase community awareness of the UM CFAR and potential collaborations.
  • Tabling and Outreach: Represent CFAR at community events, health fairs, and conferences, disseminating information and engaging in conversations to educate and inform the public.
  • Community Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and key stakeholders to collaborate on research projects and initiatives.
  • Research Promotion: Develop creative strategies to effectively communicate the importance of research in improving community health outcomes.
  • Data Collection: Collect feedback and data from community interactions to inform CFAR's outreach strategies and research priorities.
  • This is a full-time position. Flexible hours, including some weekends, are required to fulfill the program's outreach needs. Local traveling is involved. Candidates should be comfortable working within the described population.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.

Commitment to the University's core values.

Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
