Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment located within the packaging area of the facility and for performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel, while working under limited supervision.

Job Description

• Maintains safe work practicesat all timesand participates in safety programs. Assures that safe work practices are followed in all work groups. Abides by all company work, safety, and hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.

• May be required to perform emergency repairs with minimal supervision.

• Keeps documentation up to date.

• Familiar with proper start-up and shut down of packaging equipment

• Performs equipment repair, overhaul, andtrouble shootingof equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, etc.

• Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, replaces parts, etc. as needed to assure uninterrupted packaging of quality potato products.

• Performs structurally-sound welds and acceptable cutting, using appropriate cutting and welding equipment.

• May be required to work any shift,any and alldays of the week, or overtime in the accordance with production and maintenance schedules.

• Reads, writes, and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions and technical manuals.

• Maintains a neat, orderly work area.

• Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals.

• Supports and promotes CPS programs such as 5S and Center lining throughout the plant.

• Must be able to operate a forklift and man lift in a safe manner. Requires plant certification.

• Give direction and training to lower bracketed mechanics as needed.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have good communication skills, both written and oral

• Must be able to complete work assignments with limited supervision

• Set up and weld mild steel in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions with Arc & MIG welders.

• Properly use all basic hand tools, power hand tools, and shop tools (not to include machine tools).

• Set-up and cut with oxy-acetylene.

• Perform basic plumbing runs and repairs.

• Be knowledgeable of basic mechanical nomenclature.

• Perform basic sheet metal layout and fabrication.

• Have the ability and willingness to follow instructions.

• Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being done.

• Hascompleted, orhas the ability to complete a forklift training program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must have aptitude for basic math, including the ability to add,subtract,must read, write and communicate in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee:

• Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy items.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds six feet above the ground.

• Must be able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight andawkwardwork places for extended periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee:

• Will work in all areas of the plant, both inside and outside during any andall-weatherconditions.

• Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, around electrical equipment and open circuits.

• May work on wet, muddy, icy, or greasy floors.

• Is frequently exposed to extreme cold surroundings.

• Is exposed to humid conditions as well as hot and cold environments ranging from 0°to 130°F

• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

• Will regularly work in an environment in which the noise level is usually high.
