Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our RapidPak packaging machine, assuring that all LOTO procedures are being followed in accordance with company/OSHA policies. This position will be required to work closely with maintenance personnel, to assure that preventive maintenance is being performed on required intervals, and communicate any mechanical issues you are having to your supervisor, as well as maintenance personnel. This position requires that you take ownership of the machine, by performing the duties listed below. This position also requires that you are, or become, forklift certified.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties

Run the RapidPak in an efficient manner, assuring that the packages have good seal integrity.

Assure that all LOTO policies are being adhered to in accordance with company and OSHA requirements.

Perform light maintenance duties as supported by maintenance, and designated by your supervisor or manager.

Perform metal checks and changing of the date coder per day/product requirements.

Change forms, dies, and plug assists per product changes, making sure they are handled in a manner in which they are kept clean and sanitized, and free of nicks and burs.

Document repairs performed on the machine, to include gasket changes.

Perform all film changes, assuring that the correct film is being used, and that the film lot #'s are recorded on our daily production sheets.

Assure that we are minimizing film waste through efficient film changes, and monitoring packaging schedules.

Perform package leaker checks per corporate standards.

Assist the let-out position in changing brine flow to the cages, and communicate vat changes to the computer operator.

Assist in line rotation when directed by your supervisor.

Assist in opening rework packages.

Responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of the entire machine during sanitation, to include plug assist and film roller sanitizing.

Responsible for the documentation of our tool accountability program.

Responsible for staging all packaging materials needed to complete orders, and assuring that the films are completely covered, and stored neatly in the racks.

Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety guidelines to ensure that quality food products are manufactured in a sanitary production environment and delivered with superior protection to our customers and consumers.

Supports Saputo's commitment to preserve the environment by following all established policies and procedures related to such preservation. Reports any identified concerns regarding potential hazards to the environment.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working directly near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; The employee is frequently exposed to high traffic areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to bend, twist, reach, and grasp 33-200 times per shift. The employee is required to stand and walk more than three quarters of each hour during a shift. The employee will squat, kneel, climb, push, and pull 1-32 times per shift. Heavy lifting and/or moving is required for this position. The employee will lift and/or move up to 100# 1-32 times per shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
