Overview
Global Communities works at the intersection of humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and financial inclusion to save lives, advance equity and secure strong futures. We support communities at the forefront of their own development in more than 35 countries, partnering with local leaders, governments, civil society and the private sector to achieve a shared vision of a more just, prosperous and equitable global community.
Global Communities is seeking an Intern to join the Technical Excellence, Learning, Innovation and Impact (TELII) team. This internship may be based at our Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, San Diego, California or 100% remote in the United States.
This is a paid Internship working 10-20 hours a week for three months with the potential to extend. Hours can be flexible.
The Intern provides research, writing, editing, and outreach support to the Digital Savings Group (DSG) Hub project funded by FAHU Foundation. The intern will work closely with the Senior Technical Advisor, Gender Integration and the Director, Women Empowered Initiative to develop content for the site and publicize the Hub among the savings group community. The intern will have the opportunity to use their research and writing skills and will gain substantive knowledge on subjects related to gender, financial inclusion, and the use of modern technology to advance economic growth and other sustainable development goals.
Launching in April 2022, the DSG Hub will serve as an online repository for anyone who is planning, implementing, developing technology for, or studying digital savings groups. The overall goal of the project is to help actors across the savings group community make sound decisions about whether and how to digitize savings groups effectively. The Hub will function as a custom-made microsite containing a wide variety of practical, easy-to-find, and easy-to-use resources to support savings group members and practitioners. The Hub will also serve as a tool for ongoing community engagement, allowing diverse actors from across the industry to connect with one another, share insights and experiences, and learn from successes and failures in the sector. The Hub will be an active, regularly updated, and open source for anyone to use free of charge.
