About the WFIU / WTIU Digital Department:

Digital is a department of IU-Radio/Television Services, primarily supporting, sustaining, and enhancing the online presence of WFIU and WTIU.

Digital's Goals: Content, Audience, Revenue.

1/ Content: Develop capacity for new and better content, using new resources, re-allocation of existing resources, and improved efficiency.

2/ Audience: Grow overall audience, and retain that audience long-term with increased engagement.

3/ Revenue: Increase and sustain revenue (not-for-profit) from a variety of sources - individual, corporate, foundation, government, and client.

Job Summary

The Associate Producer, Digital is a part-time, hourly employee position within the Radio & Television Services / WFIU / WTIU - Digital Department. The Associate Producer will follow, discover, design, write, create, post and manage "social media" photo/video mini-feature elements to support existing WFIU / WTIU local series, one-off special programs, and Events. The chosen incumbent will report to, and work alongside, the Digital Department's Digital Producer within the Digital department of IU-Radio & Television Services / WTIU / WFIU. Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Measures the daily posting of relevant and engaging locally-created social media elements of WFIU / WTIU local broadcast, web, and in-person series / programs / events.
  • Responsible for circulating and marketing their finished elements via web platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others.
  • Scripts and edits video, still images, and audio, utilizing in-house editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Spark, Audition, and Photoshop.
  • Works with the Marketing department to identify opportunities for social media features alongside the Marketing department's existing social media editorial calendar.
  • Works with the WFIU/WTIU Promotions department to source existing multimedia material, and occasionally create original material, for production of social media-oriented features.
  • Works with each WFIU/WTIU locally produced series / specials / event "producer of record", to source existing multimedia material and information, toward the creation of new elements for social media features.
  • Builds, maintains, and utilizes a daily "Grid" of internal station local series, programs, events, special projects - and the "producer of record" of each.
  • Executes assignments for the Digital Department, as assigned by the position's supervisor (Digital Producer).
General Responsibilities
  • Utilizes public media industry-standard social media best practices.
  • Creates and manage a master WFIU/WTIU content "Grid".
  • Aggressively pursues internal relationships / communication / information.
  • Utilizes in-house image, graphics, and video editing software.
  • Consistently (daily) web posts new elements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • A high school diploma.
Preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree, or work toward a Bachelor's degree; in media, journalism, communications, marketing, film, or a related field OR
  • 2 years' experience in related coursework in the journalism or media production fields at the collegiate level.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred
  • 1 year of professional exposure in broadcast, corporate, marketing, or industrial production setting
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

Required
  • A valid driver's license. With ability to be insured (motor vehicle check) by Indiana University.
SKILLS

Required
  • Strong journalism and story-telling ability.
  • Experience with non-linear editing and motion graphics software (i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects).
  • Ability to keep and manage a production schedule.
  • Ability to work both independently and closely with other content creators within a strict deadline driven production atmosphere.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Working Conditions / Demands

Ability to work a computer, and to sit for long periods of time. Have a valid driver's license and the abilty to be insured (motor vechile check) by Indiana University.These conditions/demands will need to be met with or without an accomodation.

Advertised Salary

$12 - $14/hour with commensurate experience.

Work Hours

20 hours per week.

Works a defined, mostly regular schedule with usual needs for flexibility when production work orders must be scheduled outside business hours.

May be required to work nights or weekends, depending on the project, deadlines, and/or personnel and equipment resource availability.
