Job Summary

Carpet Specialist Helper

  • Under supervision provides assistance to more skilled workers performing installation, adjustment, maintenance, parts replacement, and repairs.
  • Cleans to remove dirt, grime, and stains from carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture using special equipment.
  • Maintains carpet extractor and upholstery cleaning equipment.
  • Cleans work area, tools, machines and equipment.
Maintenance Helper
  • Under supervision, assists a higher-ranking employee in maintenance type work; renders general manual assistance on normal maintenance projects.
  • Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
  • Breaks up concrete; digs trenches; and mops.
  • Cleans surfaces to prepare for painting; and paints
  • Cleans work area, tools, machines, and equipment and performs other routine maintenance duties.
Painter
  • Paints interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers.
  • May remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting.
  • Applies paints, primers, stains and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces (walls, ceilings, staircases, equipment, etc.).
  • Prepares surfaces to accept finishes by patching holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other filler; strips, scrapes, sand to remove old finish and clean surface.
  • Removes graffiti.
  • Cleans surfaces to prepare for painting; and paints

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
SKILLS

Required
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.

Working Conditions / Demands

Physical requirements of this position include ability to: move a wide variety of items from one place to another on a frequent basis, including furniture, and/or ascending/descending stairs and ladders; remain stationary or mobile for long periods of time in performing job assignments; position self in order to clean surfaces that are on different elevations and uneven surfaces. Be able to exert 25 pounds of force frequently and 25-50 pounds of force, occasionally.
