Description:
Loyola MacNeal has an excellent opportunity for acertified nurse assistant to join the cardiac telemetry department located at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. Our team of registered nurses, patient care techs, care managers, social workers, residents, and physicians are dedicated to providing compassionate care to the diverse community we serve.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) working under the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, utilizing evidence-based practice and a commitment to a safe patient care environment, our patient care techs support care delivery on the nursing unit.
MacNeal Hospital's Cardiac Telemetry department is a 25-bed unit that routinely cares for patients with complex medical conditions. Our unit specializes in angina, syncope, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and pre/post cardiac intervention. Cardiac Telemetry Patient Care Techs are trained in performing EKG's and phlebotomy, and certified in basic life support.

Position Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of direct patient care procedures to assist the unit manager, professional staff and physicians in providing patient care focused on the needs of the patient.

GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing care services such as bathing, oral hygiene procedures, hair care, bed pan/urinal use, skin care and garment, linen and bedding changes. Distributes meals and beverages and takes vital signs.

TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, performs 12-lead ECG, obtains specimens.

EQUIPMENT - Assists professional staff in equipment supply and set up.

TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.

COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Specify Degree(s):
Licensure/Certifications:
  • Required: Successful completion of Certified Nurse's Aide training course or a Nursing Student who has passed the Certified Nurse's Aide exam, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA, and Current Registered Nurse License, State of Illinois
