Responsibilities:The Payroll manager reports to the Executive Director of Financial Services. The Payroll Manager performs professional accounting work with administrative responsibility for all aspects of payroll. Works under minimum supervision, but is expected to resolve work problems as they arise, make independent decisions, and work on most assignments with substantial independence. Human resource and payroll functions are highly integrated and require coordination between the HR Department and the Payroll Department. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Associate's degree in Business related field is required. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
Requires at least three to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience in Higher Education is a plus.
Knowledge of automated accounting/ERP systems. Working knowledge of state regulations and policies pertaining to public funds and government finance. Skill in use of adding, computing, and related office machines. Ability to operate microcomputers or computer systems. Experience in Excel and word processing programs required; knowledge of mainframe systems a plus. Ability to work accurately with numerical detail; to analyze, consolidate and interpret accounting data in clear concise form and convey information accurately. Must comply with established agency policies and standards.
Extreme ambulatory requirements; extreme cognitive requirements; normal speech - communication requirements; normal written communication requirements; acute visual requirements; normal or corrected hearing requirements; and moderate travel required. Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, client/customer contact, and indoor activity. Requires occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, crawling, climbing, carrying and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.
Normal office environment.
$40,000 to $47,000
