Primary Purpose:

The payroll specialist will be responsible for tasks involved in processing, reporting, and tracking payroll. The position has a range of duties that include reviewing timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring that employees receive their pay in a timely manner.

Essential Duties:

  • Reviews and verifies timesheets.
  • Enters employee information and payroll data into the system.
  • Maintains accurate records of payroll payments made to employees.
  • Keeps track of pay periods, hourly wages, salaries, overtime, sick days, vacation days, and other pay as needed.
  • Calculates payable hours, deductions, taxes, bonuses, and other payroll related matters.
  • Utilizes the payroll and HRIS systems for data entry and accounts management.
  • Processes new employees, promotions, and terminations.
  • Liaises with the HR staff to ensure accurate information for payroll.
  • Files staff payroll records, relevant reports, and other documents.
  • Investigates and resolves payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintains confidence of all payroll and other records and information.
  • Prepares periodic payroll reports.
  • Assists with Payroll bank reconciliation.
  • Completes applications for new state and local tax accounts. Monitor tax payments processed by payroll provider.
  • Assists the benefits administrator as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associate Degree in related field or administrative technology certificate preferred.


Experience:
  • Previous experience in a payroll department.
  • Highly proficient in computer skills and technology.
  • Knowledge of payroll software.
  • Accurate and meticulous in data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good math and communication skills.
  • Strong clerical, administrative, and general office skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Team player.
