PCB Designer Technician at TSI

The entry PCB designer will learn TSI's component database and layout systems. Initially, the PCB designer technician will create components in OrCad CIP database and progress to more complicated PCB layout tasks such as, working with engineers to finalize schematics, creating form fitting PCB designs and assembly package files. This position requires learning high speed signal routing, critical power component placement, low noise analog circuitry, and EMC prevention techniques. The PCB designer must consistently demonstrate a quick learning curve and attention to detail for new complex designs and technologies.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating ability to adapt quickly to new designs and concepts.
  • Creating and maintaining parts in OrCAD CIP database.
  • Constructing schematic symbols, construct PCB footprints and process parts through SAP.
  • Importing/Processing designs from multiple platforms including Allegro, OrCad, PCAD, and Altium.
  • Creating/Updating project schematics and correct errors.
  • Working with Electrical Engineers to define high speed nets, spacing requirements and component placement.
  • Demonstrating critical placement and routing techniques on complex high speed and analog PCBs.
  • Inspecting and correcting routing errors with HyperLynx DRC.
  • Attending placement and PCB routing design reviews.
  • Generating Pro-E board models for mechanical assemblies, connector outlines and shrink wrap PCA design files.
  • Working with Mechanical Engineers to ensure form and fit of PCAs.
  • Generating Gerber, assembly drawings, BOMs and documentation required for assembly.
  • Answering assembler question relating to PCB layout and assembly.
  • Archiving and revising project files in SAP.
  • Identifying tools and processes to improve work flow.
  • Interacting effectively with cross functional groups.

What Do You Need?
Required
  • 2 year Electronic Technology certificate
  • 5+ years experience as an electrical technician.
  • 0 - 2 years experience PCB layout experience.
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficiency required in using all core Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
Desired
  • 2 year Electronic Technology AAS degree
  • 1+ years using Allegro
  • 1+ years using PCAD
  • 1+ years using OrCAD PCB
  • 1+ years using Pro-E
  • 1+ years using HyperLynx DRC
  • 1+ years using Altium
  • IPC-CID
