Description:
To support night shift - 7 on 7 off rotation - 9pm - 7:30am

Must have prior demonstrated hospital pharmacy experience
**Residency trained pharmacists with 2-4 years of experience highly preferred**
Must be able to work autonomously on an independent night shift
Prior NICU and patient triage experience is a plus
General Summary:

Interprets and evaluates physician orders in order to prepare and dispense appropriate medications to patients at Holy Cross Hospital. Manages drug therapy of patients. Reviews, accesses and maintains patient medication records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions and therapeutic duplication to provide a consistent quality of patient care and appropriate drug therapy. Provides information to physicians, nurses, and patients. Performance demonstrates efforts to improve patient satisfaction, lower costs and improve quality. Assists with scheduling and the implementation of decisions from the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.

Supervises the pharmacy staff in distributive functions and departmental operations under the direction of the pharmacy operations manager and director of pharmacy.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required(if applicable):

Current licensure from the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Able to communicate effectively, speak, write and comprehend English.
  • Able to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff in order to meet departmental objectives. Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of software: Word, Excel, Power Point; ASHP accredited residency, membership in ASHP and WMSHP.

A Supervisor at Holy Cross has resource monitoring and staffing responsibility for either a specific department function or for a certain shift and number of employees. Supervisors must have the ability to organize day-to-day work-flow and prioritize, adjust, and redistribute workload as necessary to assure that optimal service and resource use is achieved within the unit being supervised. The supervisor has primary responsibility to ensure that departmental and organizational policies are consistently communicated and that practice within their area of responsibility is aligned with these expectations. The supervisor is also the primary management contact for staff concerns, and directly oversees the communication of organizational objectives to the staff. Communication skills and the ability to educate staff are important elements of this job.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Capable of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Must have auditory acuity.

Visual Acuity: Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
