St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a per diem Pharmacy Technician to join our team!

The minimum scheduling requirement for this position is working every other weekend and 3 holidays/year. There is also the ability to pick up additional shifts during the week as available. The inpatient pharmacy is a 24 hour department and technicians can participate in staffing on all shifts (day, evening and night), the main responsibility of pool technicians is staffing on day and evening shift.

This position is responsible for duties such as answering phone calls, filling medication orders, refilling automated dispensing cabinets, admixing intravenous medications, and aiding in providing safe care for our patients. The ideal candidate should have pharmacy experience, PTCB certification, good communication/problem solving skills, and promote teamwork.

  • Assisting the pharmacist in medication distribution, managing automated dispensing cabinets, delivery of medications throughout the medical center and communicating with medical center colleagues in person and on the telephone.
  • Performs routine technical functions, including preparation of patient specific sterile products, repackaging and labeling of products, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performs IV compounding demonstrating acceptable sterile technique.
  • Maintains automated medication dispensing machines, (Pyxis); restocking meds, insure accuracy of inventory, verify expiration dates.
  • Ordering, receiving and restocking of all medications, IV solutions and supplies for the Pharmacy.
  • Assists Pharmacist in responding to requests and needs of patients and hospital staff.
  • Conducts patient interview to obtain accurate medication history. Asks patient if they have any questions and relays patient questions to Pharmacist.
  • Pharmacy technicians are required to be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma required
  • Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) certification within 3 months or currently enrolled in Pharmacy School Program
  • Bachelor's Degree & 2-4 years experience preferred
