Job Info

Description

The University of Chicago's Center for the Science of Early Trajectories (SET Center) in the Department of Pediatrics seeks tenure-track Scientists or Physician-Scientists who are pursuing research on developmental biology and life course health. The SET Center is composed of a diverse network of basic scientists, physician-scientists, and clinicians working collaboratively to transform infant development research and establish a biologic map of the development of pre- and neonatal infants at the cellular and molecular level. The appointees will join this accomplished group of investigators and contribute to the advance of scientific knowledge of human development throughout the life course.

Pursuant to the strategy and mission of the SET Center, appointees will be awarded the freedom to build a research program which aligns their goals with those of the Center, including but not limited to nutrition, immunology, microbiology, epigenetics, or any field related to the biology of infant development. Faculty mentorship, lab and office space, and other research infrastructure will be provided by the Center, creating a rich environment with both senior research faculty and practicing physicians.

A secondary appointment in another department in the Biological Sciences Division may be considered depending on the interests of the appointees. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Competitive research space and start-up funding are available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, the Argonne National Laboratory, and the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Prior to the start of employment, the successful candidate must have an MD, PhD, both, or an equivalent degree. The appointees will be expected to have successful external NIH or equivalent funding within three years of appointment.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago, Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/126430.

Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography and cover letter. Review of applications ends when the positions are filled.
