Are you looking for a great opportunity? Wood is currently recruiting for Pipeline Survey Department Manager to join the team in Houston.

The Pipeline Survey Department Manager is r esponsible for the overall daily activities of the Onshore Field Services Survey Department. Duties include attracting, onboarding and retaining a technically competent and professional staff to support and execute projects within the Onshore Business Unit. (BU).

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing work force plans, proposals, budgets and schedules to support stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Responsible for the management of survey team office and field personnel for all things related to survey, laser scanning and drone technologies
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the most efficient use of company resources to support projects including office and field crews
  • Manages and coordinates the scheduling and performance of office personnel and field crews in daily assignments and arranges for special location requirements for survey
  • Attends and participates in project meetings to exchange information on survey change demands and progress
  • Reviews and comments on survey plats accuracy and completeness
  • Forecasts certain incidents that may affect progress and performance of projects
  • Profit and loss responsibility for the survey department
  • Meet with clients to define scope and schedule of deliverables
  • Prepare project scopes, budget forecasts and schedules to support pipeline projects ranging from small encroachments to major capacity expansions
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to define survey deliverables from project scoping to final as-built transmittals
  • Monitor and track project deliverables and expenditures to ensure survey commitments are on time and on budget
  • Manage proposals for all survey, laser scanning and drone projects
  • Review and approve timesheets, expense reports and invoices to clients and from suppliers
  • Is key contributor to staff development and is responsible for setting standards on technical competencies for workforce both in the field and office
  • Handles all employee appraisal and evaluations for promotions, merit increases, bonuses, and compensation decisions


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the pipeline surveying industry including all aspects of onshore pipeline route surveying, aerial photography & mapping, topographic and boundary surveys, ALTA (American Land Title Assoc) surveys, platting, construction staking, pipeline as-built surveying procedures, as-built deliverables and preparing legal descriptions
  • Registered Land Surveyor license preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of survey software and AutoCAD systems
  • Management experience in pipeline industry is required, 10 years' experience leading teams is preferred
  • Proven management experience in leading teams.
  • Familiar with electronic data collection techniques including GPS control networks, coordinate systems, processing and compiling preliminary and as-built pipeline construction survey data including AutoCad and Civil 3D
  • Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of effective project management
  • Ability to communicate and present information to clients and the general public
  • Willing to travel both locally and anywhere within the United States
