Vertiv is hiring a Plant Manager in Lincoln, NE who will be responsible for driving manufacturing excellence linked to achieving short-term and long-range objectives and strategies. The Plant Manager will be responsible to provide leadership and direction to manufacturing managers including the following units: metal fabrication, final assembly and testing in a vertically integrated state-of-the art operation with 350 employees which includes the following manufacturing processes: sheet metal fabrication, structural steel fabrication, coil fabrication, fan assembly, electrical test, and final assembly. The position will also work jointly with matrix functional managers. This individual will direct the Vertiv Operating System (VOS) lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts focused on driving improvements in cost, quality, time, safety and people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive operations team towards execution of Business Goals using Lean Manufacturing methodology
  • Monitor & improve cost productivity while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality & compliant manner
  • Develops manufacturing operating plans and procedures in accordance with company policies, goals and objectives.
  • Meet plant production and quality goals
  • Foster and maintain a positive working environment, ensuring a non-union environment, maintaining well-trained and motivated staff
  • Establish all production schedules and meet customer's delivery and quality expectations
  • Supervise associates involved in department activities, including assigning and reviewing work and evaluating performance. Supervise, delegate, and prioritize workload. Train staff on policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Monitors performance provides regular feedback and conducts employee performance reviews. Encourages and facilitates implementation of improvements and development.
  • Provide leadership for executing New Products
  • Ensure enough capacity exists to achieve all customer commitments
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvements in factory yield
  • Develops and executes flexible production systems based on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Process Control techniques across all manufacturing operations.
  • Develops quality strategies that drive process stability, quality assurance and process standardization with associated controls and feedback.
  • Optimizes capital expenditures to sustain operations, drive EHS value, and deliver growth products.
  • Develop & create training plans to maximize workforce capability
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings; foster employee engagement and ensure that business and operational goals are effectively communicated to employees. Works to maintain a union-free environment.
  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in productivity, customer service, quality, inventory and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interacting with clients in a professional manner to ensure total satisfaction
  • Working on specified projects and being accountable for their completion
  • Preparing and maintaining a budget and consistently checking financials for accuracy
  • Actively participates and initiates process improvements to organizational processes.
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviors that supports continued growth and development and company mission and values.
  • Performs community outreach to establish and maintain a positive company image. This may include attending Chamber of Commerce meetings, community leadership clubs and charitable events.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing
  • At least 10 years of experience in production management to include previous senior operations management experience or similar (like plant manager or director of manufacturing) in a maquiladora or manufacturing operation in Mexico.
  • 5 years of experience leading a large manufacturing production facility or a large production operation with P&L and understand financial statements.
  • Skilled with MS Office, and various computer programs.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing manufacturing strategies and optimizing operations to achieve cost reductions and productivity gains while operating in a demanding customer environment.
  • Functional expert with hands-on experience in supply chain, Lean Manufacturing, to drive aggressive financial results and continuous improvement.
  • Highly prefer previous experience in an automotive, metal mechanic, or electro-mechanic assembly operation.
  • Experience in low volume & high mix make to order manufacturing environment (custom) will be given preference.
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, variable cost productivity, and fulfillment metrics, quality systems, cost systems, and fulfillment metrics, and procedures
  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others
  • Demonstrated leadership, energizing teams and project management
  • Ability to successfully motivate and maintain high morale, employee involvement, safety and teamwork in a non-union environment
  • Lean trained with demonstrated ability to apply tools and process rigor
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex, global, unique and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize, plan and execute important business and supply chain initiatives.
  • Proven leadership skills (experience successfully managing people / projects / issues)
  • Demonstrated ability able to influence and communicate well with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Change agent with energy, passion & enthusiasm to drive change
  • Clear, strategic, and critical thinker; proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans
  • MBA or Master's in manufacturing / business / engineering preferred.
  • Proven Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma Black Belt skills.
  • Demonstrated keen understanding of the complexity dealing with component suppliers and assembly processes.
  • Extensive product and process knowledge.
  • A working knowledge of formalized manufacturing systems (MRP).
  • Ability to develop good working relationships between department heads.
