Summary:
Supports the research mission of the principal investigator through the following areas: (1) oversees IRB process; (2) contributes to the preparation of grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations; (3) participates in study design and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); (4) manages and participates in research activities, which may include conducting participant recruitment, enrollment, interviews and visits, data collection, entry, and management, and reporting of study results.
Primary Duties
• Oversees the maintenance of research regulatory documents and submission of new studies, amendments, continuing reviews, and all other study documents.
• Drafts IRB application submissions for new protocols, consents, amendments, and continuing reviews.
• Works independently to ensure that all regulatory documents are in compliance and follow the requests of sponsors, IRB, internal managers, and directors as needed.
• Manages post-IRB review correspondence.
• Drafts and submits adverse events/serious adverse events (AE/SAEs) in accordance with Sponsors and IRB timelines.
• Contributes to the preparation, assembly, and management of grant applications and submissions (including budget preparation and editing of research methods and other grant sections), progress reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Creates relevant tables and figures for grants, manuscripts, or presentations.
• Participates in study or program development and start-up processes including developing or reviewing of study protocols, informed consents, SOPs, study materials, and other study documentation, while ensuring all documentation is maintained appropriately.
• Assists with the development of training materials and facilitation of training for study implementation based on SOPs.
• Assists with study recruitment and enrollment; updates and maintains project specific participant tracking tools.
• Assists in development of new tools for participant tracking and data collection (e.g., using Redcap).
• Assists with implementation of protocols for research studies, public health interventions or programs, and provides guidance for any protocol-related issue.
• Assists with necessary data entry, data management, and medical record abstraction.
• Assists with telephone interviews and in-person study visits, which may include study recruitment, explaining procedures to participants, and obtaining informed consent.
• Supports project logistics, including ordering research supplies.
• Independently achieve specific milestone goals to completion for assigned tasks and projects.
• Assists with organizing and presenting at investigator meetings.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, and compliance standards.
• Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and resources, learning new software and technology, and attending in-service meetings and workshops as schedule permits.
• Prepares other written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes, and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Starting salary for this position is $54,232 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in a health or science related field; or
2. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time professional research experience in a scientific research environment.

NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have their Bachelors' or higher degree in Public Health, Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences and relevant Health Professions or Pre-Professional programs (e.g., Nursing and Social Work), or related Liberal Arts disciplines (e.g., Sociology and Psychology) and prior experience overseeing research protocols and study design. They will also have experience drafting and implementing IRB protocols, experience with participant recruitment, enrollment and data collection, and experience with research-related writing tasks (i.e., literature reviews, research presentations, and grant and manuscript preparation and submission).
