Post-Doctoral Faculty Position in Marine BiologyDept. of Biology

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Biology at Kutztown University invites applications for a post-doctoral teaching position in Marine Biology beginning in Fall 2024. The position is funded for up to three years and includes mentorship and a reduced teaching load to support scholarly and professional growth.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: doctoral degree in Biology or a related field required by the starting date; one year of college-level teaching experience or equivalent. The successful candidate will be a broadly trained zoologist or physiologist with expertise in marine biology who will teach courses to support the Marine Science program, including Marine Biology and Marine Ecology, and will mentor undergraduate students in research. Preference will be given to an individual who can offer courses that meet the other needs of the Biology Department, such as General Physiology, introductory biology lecture and labs for majors and non-majors, and courses in the candidate's area of expertise that complement those of the biology faculty. Additional teaching experience and/or experience teaching biology to non-science majors is desirable. The successful candidate will be evaluated annually based on effectiveness in teaching, continued scholarly growth, and service to the department and university.
