Education: Bachelor's Degree in a social services field such as Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field is preferred

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth and young adults in a social service agency of similar experience to include special knowledge in the areas of foster care, youth experiencing trauma, child development, and special programs. Bilingual (Spanish / English) language skills are a plus. One (1) year of related experience will be considered with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Group facilitation and classroom training experience required

Summary: The Facilitator is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population especially in crisis situations while maintaining compliance with established program standards

Essential Functions:

Knowledge of community agencies and resources. Excellent group facilitation skills. Must be able to develop and maintain rapport with youth and families. Knowledgeable in all areas of training curriculum, crisis management, and curriculum development. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people and institutions. Public speaking, listening and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and staff. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Exercise patience, initiative, and judgment. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with other employees, staff, and the public. Basic assessment skills. Works as a team player. Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to administrator and law enforcement agency. Abide by all BCFS policies and procedures. Valid Texas Driver's license with a clear driving record. Must pass background check. Communicates regularly with Lead PAL Training Facilitator and PD on status of the program Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Available occasional evenings and weekends. Attends weekly all-staff meetings. Seeks community resources to enhance PAL Training services. Presents at conferences and other professional meetings on the Life Skills program. Supports other PAL services as needed.

Measurable Deliverables:

Facilitates Life Skills groups. Recruits and organizes groups for the PAL Training. Gets approval for youth training through authorization form (2054) from DFPS PAL staff before allowing young adult to attend training. Maintains files; organizes and files paperwork and documentation. Provide DFPS with appropriate documentation by the 15th of the month, and weekly in the month of March and September. Community education, including general outreach, recruitment, and public presentations, with prior approval from the PD on presentation and content. Records all services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms and Efforts to Outcomes software.

Credentials, Skills and Abilities:

Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:

o First Aid o CPR o Other ________________________________________

Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years) Demonstrate the ability to:

Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.

Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.

Work in a fast-paced environment.

Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.

Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Travel as needed.

Manage time effectively and efficiently.

Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
