ZS's Consumer Analytics Team helps consumer brands realize meaningful improvements in their performance through straightforward, purposeful, and effective analytics solutions. This group offers a range of support - from strategic advisory to execution of custom analysis to development of standalone analytics accelerators and products - that address a broad spectrum of business issues, including consumer intelligence, product innovation and portfolio management, brand and value proposition, personalization, spend optimization, and process automation. Members of this group have diverse backgrounds (e.g., data scientists, AI/ML scientists, business analysts, data architects, etc.) and work collaboratively on cross-functional project teams alongside our clients.

The Consumer Data Strategist will be a key member of ZS's Consumer Analytics Team. As this group furthers its mission to serve consumer brands across a variety of industries and business applications, deep expertise of the broader consumer data landscape (e.g., the sources, providers, applications, etc.) is increasingly critical. The Consumer Data Strategist will serve as a thought leader in this space, developing domain knowledge the can be used both to guide clients on data strategy and to inform ZS project teams as they deliver client engagements and build new analytics solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with other leaders in the group to form trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders who oversee consumer data, grow the practice by identifying and pursuing new client opportunities, lead data-oriented client engagements, and bring new data-driven solutions to market.

For the purposes of this role, focus industries include: CPG, consumer health, retail, travel, hospitality, and financial services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as a deep subject matter expert on the broader consumer data landscape across focus industries, including macro trends, common data sources and providers, common use cases and applications, and current regulatory conditions
  • Identify emerging data sources and providers across focus industries and maintain frameworks to evaluate their suitability for internal and client use cases
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage partnerships with consumer data providers
  • Collaborate with ZS client service teams across focus industries to identify new use cases for current and emerging consumer data sources
  • Develop and deliver new ZS solutions and offerings to help clients in focus industries acquire, manage, and more effectively leverage consumer data
  • Support client service teams in the area of consumer data strategy
  • Help ensure ongoing ZS compliance (relative to partnership agreements, legal restrictions, etc.) when using consumer data for internal or client purposes
  • Produce ongoing thought leadership for ZS related to consumer data trends

What We're Looking For


  • Bachelor's or master's degree required, with strong academic performance in analytic and quantitative coursework
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant post-collegiate job experience
  • 5+ years' experience working for a leading consumer data provider or similar professional services role preferred (optimally with demonstrable experience bringing new data-oriented solutions to market)
  • Deep knowledge and experience with a broad range of consumer data within at least 2 focus industries, including:
    • Digital engagement data (e.g., Google, Facebook, etc.)
    • Direct marketing data (e.g., Acxiom, Experian, etc.)
    • Product sales and volumetrics data (e.g., Nielson, IRi, Numerator, etc.)
    • Data marketplaces (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Marketplace, LiveRamp, etc.)
    • Industry-specific sources (e.g., room vacancy data within hospitality, pricing data within retail, loyalty data within travel, etc.)
  • Self-starter, with high motivation, maturity and personal initiative
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to influence senior executives
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a matrixed environment
  • Empathy, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset

ZS is a global consulting firm. Fluency in English is required; additional fluency in at least one European or Asian language is desirable.
