Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in light-wave telecommunications and high voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of technical experience with a track record of increasing levels of responsibility.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electrical equipment and systems, including light-wave telecommunications systems and high voltage equipment.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
  • Be an overall technical leader for product design and prototyping activities from concept through transfer to customers by providing technical support and recommendations during technical reviews.
  • Manage all PCBA development within the team and work directly with PCBA process owner to coordinate activities.
  • Manage relationships of outside High Voltage testing laboratories.
  • Provides technical leadership of cross-functional project and problem-solving teams, integration of optical, electronic, mechanical, and firmware, while providing system design expertise.
  • Provide technical leadership with requirements development and design reviews.
  • Cooperate with field installation teams to ensure proper installation and operation of deployed light-wave systems.

  • Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Physics or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on light-wave telecommunications and high voltage systems.
  • Proven track record of leadership and increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Proficiency with electrical circuitry design software. Circuit simulation and modelling using LTSpice or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong background in high voltage (up to 21kV) design (design rules for pwb layout and wiring) and test (HV switching, surge, voltage transient, partial discharge).
  • Able to develop hardware requirements, as well as manufacturing test plans.
  • Experience in Electronic testing, lab test set automation, qualification, safety and reliability standards.
  • Strong background in DC-DC converter design.
  • Electrostatic FEA analysis with Ansys or equivalent.
  • Candidate should be self-starter and flexible as workload is varied.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
