What you'll do...

Principal Software Engineer

The In Store Omni Services team builds services and applications to provide Walmart customers with best in-class experiences throughout Walmart stores. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience for our customers through innovation and technology that will enable customers to digitally engage with us during their shopping journey. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the evolution of the customer digital journey on the Walmart app.

We are embracing Open-Source technology using Swift, Kotlin, React-Native, React.js to build a front end, mobile experience and cloud native backend services using Java.In our team, you will work with talented engineers across our platforms including mobile engineers, backend service engineers, UX Designer and product managers to shape our road map and help deliver best-in class mobile experiences.

As a Principal Software Engineer , you'll spend your days translating requirements into architecture design, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done. What you'll do..
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Collaborate closely with the service teams to define the right end to end architecture for building reusable mobile (iOS/Android/Web) widgets and create the blueprint with the right integration patterns for consumption by various Walmart Mobile and Web Products.
  • Troubleshoots business and production issues for mobile devices by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; analyzing issues based on expert knowledge of mobile devices and programming; formulating and implementing an action plan; interpreting results to determine further action; and performing root cause analysis across multiple mobile devices to prevent future occurrence of issues.
  • Leads project teams for Mobile Engineering projects by providing direction regarding project plan; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timelines; providing guidance regarding project issues or roadblocks; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
  • Develops innovative mobile technology solutions and strategies to support business objectives by collaborating with cross-functional business partners; developing assessments of key opportunities; benchmarking and analyzing industry best practices; forecasting for future technologies; driving high-priority initiatives; identifying and implementing solutions; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives within the organization; influencing the industry to adopt sustainable solutions; and defining software development guidelines, standards, and processes.
  • Leads medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects for Mobile Engineering by collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine project requirements; translating requirements into mobile solutions for multiple operating systems (for example, iPhone, Android); gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code (for example, JavaScript) that can be applied to multiple types of mobile devices; integrating solutions to ensure they are applicable to multiple operating systems; developing user interface solutions; conducting testing to ensure solution is functional; communicating project status and roadblocks to team members and stakeholders; determining solutions to issues; enhancing design to prevent reoccurrence of defects across multiple devices; ensuring on-time delivery; and collaborating with project managers to provide guidance on project implementation plan.
  • Provides support to the business for new and existing systems by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility); researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of own domain.
  • Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams when needed; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; and completing online documentation.


What you'll bring..
  • Over 10+ years of experience in building mobile & desktop user experiences
  • Advanced knowledge of front-end design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong expertise in mobile development using react native
  • Strong expertise in integrating analytics, Crashlytics and measuring CPU and battery utilizations for mobile application
  • Good expertise in creating functional automation testing using Appium or other open source automation framework
  • Strong expertise in ReactJS and Redux technologies
  • Strong expertise in GraphQL
  • Clear Communication, including the ability to create functional charts
  • Ability to multitask between several different requirements and features concurrently
  • Experience with cloud native technology, CI/CD
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
  • Superior analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment
  • Have a true passion about Technology. It's a must!
  • Nice to have Backend experience either Java or NodeJS development
