Description
Under close supervision of an internship coordinator and/or an experienced staff member, and for a minimum of 160 hours, the graduate-level select internship provides real-world knowledge through performance of a variety of functions across Nebraska's Judicial Branch.
Examples of Work
Experience includes, but is not limited to, high quality execution of engagements and special projects in positions requiring minimum qualification including two-years of experience to individuals pursuing an advanced degree. The graduate select intern builds skills through shadowing of experienced staff working with clients and the public involved within the Nebraska court system, probation offices and/or the Office of Public Guardian.

Graduate-level select interns will take part in hands-on participation and planning and will attend regular staff and client meetings and/or court sessions. While contributing to the mission of the Judicial Branch, experiential learning will lead to skill development and provide opportunities to meet a variety of people in the profession, allowing the select-intern to form relationships that can be built upon in the future.

By conclusion of the internship, the graduate select intern will have the ability to work independently. Shadow Judicial Branch staff and provide assistance where appropriate. Participate in staff, client, and stakeholder meetings. Observe court sessions. Perform studies and surveys. Conduct research, complete reports and develop presentations. Provide routine information to the public through various means of communication. Create informational and promotional materials. Organize and promote Judicial Branch events or program activities. Compile and maintain record. Operate most office machines including computers. Perform related work as required.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Pursuing an advanced degree (masters, juris doctor, PhD) in the social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields. All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be motivated, organized, and possess good communication skills, maintain a high level of ethics and serves as a role model for justice-involved individuals. Ability to work with many different kinds of people and to adapt to a variety of situations. Ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team as well as acting autonomously as appropriate. Ability to meet recurring deadlines, effectively organize time, set priorities, work under stressful conditions, follow oral and written instructions. Typing and data entry skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with a general understanding of data analysis techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to professionally represent Judicial Branch.
