Position Overview:

This Process Engineer - Energy will provide process engineering support to production organizations across PAMC to ensure excellence in Energy Management, Continuous Improvement, Reliability, Change Management, Production Planning, and Cost Optimization. This role works closely with all other Unit Process Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, Production counterparts, Maintenance counterparts, and the Projects Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform weekly and monthly site Fuel Gas balance for Financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the day-to-day Production team to support implementation of RASCI Chart for daily Energy Optimization.
  • Perform proactive technical monitoring with regards to long term technical energy Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead the development and implementation plans to mitigate threats to Energy (CEI/EII).
  • Utilize sound causal learning methods for problem solving and participating in investigations.
  • Lead, provide technical review level assurance, and participate in management of change to ensure robust process safety management for changes to be implemented.
  • Identify opportunities for margin and energy improvements and drive changes to capture these opportunities via established work processes.
  • Collaborate with capital projects to ensure proper implementation and energy performance of new project implementation and timing for commissioning into our Energy Management process.
  • Own and maintain long-term proactive monitoring, historical records, KBC Visual Mesa models.
  • Lead process representatives for development of Energy Business Plan.
  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking shifts in Energy performance as compared to the Energy Business Plan, in addition to routine reporting on site Energy metrics.
  • Act as an active member of Energy Management Team.
  • Identify need for and take lead on Engineering Studies or Trials as it is related to Energy.
  • Complete Environmental Calculations as assigned.
  • Lead and participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change and Process Hazard Analysis as applicable.
  • Collaborate with other Unit Process Engineers to provide monthly technical assurance reporting to Motiva stakeholders individual unit Energy KPIs.
  • Develop Energy KPI tools to track performance to aid in continuous improvement.
  • Provide back-up support for site Nitrogen curtailment as Production resources require.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant process engineering experience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication with all levels of matrixed organization
  • Effective teamwork in cross-functional situations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Delivers quality results and is a self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience
  • Previous experience working in refining/chemicals
  • Understanding of Process Operations

Physical Requirements:
  • Due to the safety sensitive nature of the job, must be able to pass annual respirator fit testing
  • Move up to 40 pounds by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects
  • Ability to reach all work areas in the plant (i.e. climb ladders, navigate catwalks, handle heights up to 50 feet, etc.)
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirators, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
