Job purpose

Our Product Designer plays an important part on the Ensight engineering team. The Engineering Team works with the Customer, the Sales Team, and Production in designing equipment that solves complex challenges for our customers manufacturing needs. They are a pivotal role in our machine design process and work to analyze new ways we can improve our current and future designs based on their extensive knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), customer drawings, manufacturing drawings, and other related engineering documents.
  • Understand and follow all company procedures for safety.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable, and cost efficient.
  • Perform calculations required for equipment verification and component / system sizing
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality based resources in their work to fabricate, assemble and qualify Engineering / Design deliverables in support of customer driven requirements.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams consisting of clients, electrical engineers, design engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver solutions.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred; may consider equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • Mechanical Design capability and working knowledge in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
  • Familiarity with design for sheet metal fabrication and machining.
  • Ability to check and verify accuracy of self-generated drawings as well as drawings generated by peers.
  • Designing for food processing industry is a plus.
