Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead systems engineer on new spectroscopy product development, including: design, prototyping, testing, ramp-up, and manufacturing
  • Solve complex electro-mechano-optical problems, preparation for manufacturing, and design of fixtures/instruments.
  • Hands-on assembly of prototypes and ramp-up volumes, optical alignment, test development, campaign development
  • Data analysis, technical reporting for internal teams and customers, customer support
  • Customer interfacing to support OEM business development, technical support of sales team in pre-sales situations

  • Skills/Experience required:
  • BS or MS in Physics, other optical science or optical engineering degree
  • 5-15 years industry experience in designing and building scientific-grade instruments (especially optical systems, scientific cameras, and spectrometers a plus)
  • Experience working as a generalist across specialties and lateral management of expert colleagues as project coordinator and manager
  • Systems-level experience in mechanical and electrical engineering and light sensing detectors, opto-electronics, photonics
  • Broad experience in optics (gratings, fiberoptics, light sources, detectors)
  • Experience in MATLAB and LabVIEW a plus
  • Experience in Zemax optical simulation a plus
