As a Mechanical Engineer at Trane, you will be responsible for designing the equipment and systems that support these goals. You will develop concepts for new and improved designs and work with a highly-capable engineering organization to take these ideas from concept to reality and into mass production. You will run lab validation tests to make sure the products operate safely and reliably for our customers over a long time, no matter the application. You will also have opportunities to learn from some of the industry's best people, while having opportunities to develop leadership skills by running projects that support the business.


Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

  • Lead product improvement activities to identify opportunities to improve product performance and reduce cost. Lead projects to implement subsequent product design changes.
  • Complete system integration tasks including: engineering design, engineering specifications, support creation of layouts and design reviews.
  • Manage project schedules for assigned projects.
  • Perform process improvement projects to improve team productivity.
  • Review and understand the technical feasibility of product and internal requirements.
  • Ensure Trane Technologies stage-gate product development process (TTPDP) is followed.
  • Use of ideation to improve VA/VE project pipeline and managing rolling 12 VA/VE projects.
  • Manage rolling 12 for VAVE projects.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.


Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience with design of refrigeration circuit (piping, DX coil, fan selection, expansion device selection, etc).
  • Experience within Product Test Labs and testing processes (UL, ETL, and AHRI etc.).
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE and DOE requirements.
  • Familiarity with managing projects.
  • Fluent in MS Office applications.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work seamlessly across functions and at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to follow internal engineering design processes and best practices.
  • Detailed understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Ability to complete tasks/deliverables in a multi-tasking environment (several concurrent assignments) on time.
  • Work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions.
