Purpose and Scope
The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting and managing the production, shipping, and logistics activities of the St. Clair plant to maintain current business and successfully achieve new business objectives. The Operations Manager provides unified direction to meet business expectations and to process product in a manner that is safe, environmentally friendly, efficient, meets and exceeds customer expectations of quality and on time delivery, and strives to achieve the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage and lead all production management staff and operators so that products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and meeting cost goals as directed by customer focused feedback.
  2. Reinforce the strategic direction of the St. Clair plant anddesign and execute effective systems and best practices within safety, operations, and procurement.
  3. Collaborate with quality, engineering, and maintenance on all process and product launches
  4. Demonstrate a true 'shop floor presence'. Work closely with operators, engineering, and quality to understand the current state. Initiate, lead, and maintain continuous improvement efforts as an on-going philosophy and core competency (productivity, cost, yield, etc.) based upon structured problem-solving tools and processes (5 why, is / is not, Six Sigma, Shainin tools etc.)
  5. Work as a change agent, understanding and leading the operation toward world-class performance
  6. Support production supervisors in managing production goals and tactics to maximize productivity.
  7. Develops all levels of the production team. Drives consistency and accountability on all policies, procedures and expectations throughout the production organization. Drives operator engagement throughout the facility and encourages problem solving through all levels of the site organization.
  8. Supervise the procurement function ensuring proper alignment and efficiency as related to short-term and long-term business needs.
  9. Develop robust systems to reduce variation and repeat occurrences of known process or administrative issues. Conduct cost analysis related to managed functions as required. Serve as a back-up for St. Clair's Plant Manager when required.

Technical/Functional Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience and proven track record of building a successful production team and collaborating with key corporate and supply chain resources
  • Demonstrated track record of driving team to perform to goals in safety, cost, and quality targets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning skills with ability to make data driven decisions
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to reduce process variation through the application of problem-solving methodologies.
  • Highly effective cross-functional communication and multi-level leadership skills
  • Proven and demonstrated ability to interface and resolve issues with various levels of an organization.
  • Knowledge of EH&S concepts and OSHA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of ISO14001, IATF16949, SPC, FMEAs, Process Control Plans, Layered Process Audits, TQMS, GQTS.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process.
  • Intermediate / Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering or related field with 10 years of experience in a management manufacturing environment process, problem solving, maintenance, operations, and leadership.
Master degree in Business, Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience in a management manufacturing environment process, problem solving, maintenance, operations, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering or related field with 12 years of experience in a management manufacturing environment process, problem solving, maintenance, operations, and leadership.
Master degree in Business, Engineering or related field with 9 years of experience in a management manufacturing environment process, problem solving, maintenance, operations, and leadership.
