JOB PURPOSE:

Supervises and coordinates the manufacturing operations and all activities of the second shift Weld department employees. Coordinates 2nd shift manufacturing activities with the other shift supervisors and other key support departments to help ensure that department objectives are achieved.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Reviews and plans production headcount staffing levels to meet production schedules.

Monitors production performance levels relative to key metrics of safety, quality, productivity, schedule adherence, and team/personnel performance development.

Provides communication to all shifts and departments as necessary to ensure comprehensive updates occur regarding all second shift daily production operations.

Conducts regular department meetings to ensure thorough communication to all direct reports. Supports and enforces all safety initiatives, regulations and company policies.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Initiates maintenance work order requests to service and maintain equipment or for completion of additional work tasks to support a safe and productive work environment.

Develops and recommends corrective actions to improve safety, work flow, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Implements manufacturing processes

Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and others to introduce process improvements and measures.

Ensures machine set up and equipment processes are accurate.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists employees in addressing and solving work problems.

Initiates and monitors plans to motivate workers to achieve department goals.

Ensures accurate employee and production records are maintained.

Ensures compliance with all relevant SOPs throughout all manufacturing processes.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1 to 3 years supervisory experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Bachelor's degree and/or 1-2 yrs schooling and related work experience combined

Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment preferred.

Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Able to work with time constraints and meet deadlines.

Capable of interpreting product engineering specifications, drawings, manufacturing work instructions, shop work orders and associated manufacturing process documentations.

Computer skills as required to perform all functions of position.
