Job Summary: The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall daily administration of one or more programs. Serves as a liaison between program and other departments or community.

Additional Department Summary: The Specialist will work with families and early childhood providers caring for children birth through 5 with social-emotional-behavioral challenges that put them at risk for expulsion from early care and learning settings. The Specialist will consult with child care providers on ways to strengthen their overall program to promote the social-emotional development of all of the children in their care. The Specialist will serve licensed child care centers, licensed group day care homes, registered family day care homes, and other preschool programs in a twelve-county region.

The Specialist will observe, assess and provide strategies to assist staff, and caregivers to develop attitudes and skills that will help them function more effectively which will ultimately support the social and emotional health of young children.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or child development. Two years of experience providing family supports enhancing social/emotional well-being in relationship-based work with young children and their families and care providers. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge: Specialist should also be familiar with early childhood social/emotional and behavioral screening/assessment/evaluation tools such as: Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS); Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS); Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA); Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social and Emotional (ASQ: SE) and SEAM; Teaching Strategies GOLD.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or child development. Knowledge of early childhood development (birth through five), particularly social-emotional development. Experience with the assessment of social and emotional functioning among children ages birth through five. Experience working in early care and learning settings. Experience providing consultative services in a variety of settings. Experience providing training and facilitating groups. Warm, empathic personality and excellent communication skills. Cultural competence.
