Summary of Duties:

Under general direction, this position assists the Public Records Manager in receiving, logging, reviewing, and processing records responsive to public records requests, including creating correspondence and maintaining accurate records and files. The program coordinator utilizes an online portal to collect records from record holders system wide and to release them to requester. Records are processed using a variety of software applications and consultation with the Public Records Manager and the Attorney General's Office, when appropriate. The incumbent communicates frequently with individuals from every part of the WSU community through written correspondence and phone contact. This position receives ongoing training to ensure compliance with regulations and standards expected of the office.


The Public Records Program goal is to fulfill PRR's in a timely and efficient manner while complying with federal & state law and University policy; incumbent supports those goals by assisting Public Manager with program activities as outlined in the duties performed.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated skill in organization, attention to detail, and proficient reading of the English language for content.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with intern al and external

  • constituents.

  • Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as an administrative or legal assistant performing duties as referenced in the summary of duties above.

Monthly Salary: Range 38, $3,096.00 - $4,013.00 (Step A through L) Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
