Program Senior UX Researcher

Highly innovative, Elsevier's Nursing and Health Education (NHE) team equips tomorrow's health heroes. We combine big data, machine learning technology, data analytics and adaptive techniques through students' engagement with content, assessments and simulations to provide a highly focused, engaging and personalized learning path for each student.

As a Program Senior UX Researcher you'll steer research direction for three agile product squads, collaboratively delivering exceptional user experiences. You'll coach UX designers to conduct delivery research activities in tandem with business goals, overseeing the quality of their research activities. You will conduct high impact user research within the discovery track, and build a network of relationships with design, product, marketing and strategy, advocating for a design thinking approach to research.

We are looking for an experienced Senior UX Researcher who has the following skillset and experience:

Leads & conduct research:

  • Guide evidence-based research strategy, representing UX Research on cross-functional working groups; collaborate closely with UX Design towards "symphony" moments.
  • Follow a user-centered research process, striving to model excellence (but not perfection).
  • Promote UX Research best practices, equipping researchers and designers.
  • Set engaged pace for iterating research in 2 sprint cycles.
  • Proactively use data to establish key metrics for team, harnessing this to provide clarity.
  • Coach the team in research skills, including study design, analysis and presenting, equipping people to deliver impactful research.
  • Lead research coaching sessions with the wider Education UX team, inspiring a culture of curiosity and fun.

Focuses on the customer:
  • Gather, evaluate and have a solid understanding of customer use cases.
  • Coach the team to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Understand competitors and regulatory environment, market segment needs in greater detail.

Creatively solves problems and define research strategy:
  • Enable your team to study problems from a number of angles.
  • Work with the team to identify different research solutions aligned with product strategy at a program level.
  • Partner with product leadership in identifying areas to conduct exploratory research.
  • Adept ability to apply the right research method for the appropriate goals, and to coach research methods appropriate for skill level.
