Our Northeast Waste Management team is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team in White Plains, NY. In this role, you will support senior staff on solid waste projects including landfills, compost facilities, recycling facilities, transfer stations, anaerobic digestion facilities and biogas utilization on projects across the country.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assist project managers to deliver projects on time and on budget for clients requiring permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management and inspection, environmental monitoring and studies, greenhouse gas (GHG) evaluations and support strategic regional business development activities
  • Manage smaller waste management projects and serve as design lead which will include coordinating technical resources and personnel (i.e. drafters, 3D designers, GIS and database technicians, chemists, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and planners, etc.) to complete solid waste facility designs and plans
  • Contribute to the overall design of landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities and anaerobic digestion facilities
  • Prepare technical reports and complete peer reviews of designs completed by others on the team
  • Effectively communicate with existing and prospective clients
  • Complete and review design of project related infrastructure including pump stations, landfill liner systems, pipelines, roadways, stormwater management facilities, etc.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and cost estimates
  • Develop and administer construction contract documents and conduct construction inspections and chair construction progress meetings
  • Complete regulatory compliance reviews
  • Develop studies and designs to support permitting applications in collaboration with subject experts
  • Participate in liaison with regulators
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, fee estimating and project schedule development.
For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license in NY or ability to acquire it
  • 4-8 years of Engineering experience in the Civil/Environmental Solid Waste field
  • Intermediate AutoCAD skills (layout, surface development, volume calculations)
  • Ability and willingness to observe construction activities and complete field investigations
  • Attention to detail with an ability to document activities
Salary range: $66,000 - $82,500
