The IH Project Manager (IHPM) at CTEH, LLC is responsible for the initiation, planning, implementation, execution, direction, and completion of industrial hygiene (IH) projects. The IHPM may be additionally responsible for oversight of all assigned IH and Emergency Response (ER) projects to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. The successful candidate has experience addressing a wide range of health and safety issues, including those related to industrial hygiene, site safety, and environmental remediation. The IHPM maintains good working relationships with all levels of personnel and will quickly identify questions and/or concerns related to environmental, health and safety issues relying on experience, expertise, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The IHPM performs a variety of tasks with minimal direction. Good decision-making skills, a high level of creativity in developing unique solutions to problems, interfacing with project management, with the client, and with regulatory agencies are necessary. The IHPM may participate in rotations of 24/7 on-call duties for emergency response purposes when Emergency Response (ER) PMs are not available. Extended travel may be required. This position reports directly to the Senior Industrial Hygiene Manager of Health & Safety Services.

Pay Range: $61,800-$90,900 (commensurate with experience)

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE

  • Assist the Senior Industrial Hygiene Manager and other senior staff to develop and/or lead IH activities and execute projects;
  • Facilitate effective mobilization of personnel and equipment to IH projects;
  • Develop and implement scientific sampling methods for IH and emergency response projects;
  • Provide quality project status reports, effective data evaluations, cost estimates, and suggestions to promote on-site worker health to CTEH management, the client and agency representatives;
  • Prepare project- and site-specific sampling work plans, health and safety plans, and other documents as required;
  • Compile, review, and summarize scientific/technical literature as assigned;
  • Prepare written reports summarizing scientific data collected on projects;
  • Perform industrial hygiene activities, including, but not necessarily limited to, conducting air sampling, noise surveys, review of SDS, and preparation, and/or review of project- or site-specific health and safety plans;
  • Assist in day-to-day management of assigned personnel;
  • Assist in response readiness by ensuring the availability and adequacy of project equipment, sampling media, and ER supplies for the region;
  • Remain current with practices and procedures in the environmental, industrial hygiene, and management field;
  • Define, maintain, and communicate core program requirements and expectations;
  • Help mentor and coach response teams to strengthen capabilities and competencies;
  • Ensure that compliance/risk assurance processes are robust by self-identifying/self-correcting issues and sharing of best practices between regions;
  • Develop effective databases for environmental and occupational exposure and analyze data, identify trends, and ensure corrective actions are taken;
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain environmental tools/systems to simplify and streamline environmental program requirements;
  • Act as a member of an emergency response team, traveling, with limited notice, to potentially remote areas to conduct air, water and/or soil sampling, meteorological monitoring, and information collection;
  • Maintain compliance with the company's environmental, health, and safety policies and all applicable client, state, federal, and local environmental rules, policies and regulations; and,

OTHER DESIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure;
  • Ability to develop business and maintain contact with new and existing clients;
  • Ability to communicate the basic concepts of relevant OSHA regulations, other occupational health and safety standards and guidelines, including those of the ACGIH; mentoring of staff in these areas may apply;
  • Ability to conduct IH training for staff;
  • Active involvement in industry and/or professional organizations;
  • Demonstrable ability to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences and a practicing CIH or CSP; or
  • Master's degree in a related science field (chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, toxicology, etc.) and the desire and qualifications to attain the CIH certification within one year and previously holds CSP
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based platform required
CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • HAZWOPER certification - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
  • DISA clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
  • TWIC clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
  • Current driver's license - Required
  • Ability to obtain a passport - Required
  • CIH - Preferred and attainable in 1 year or less
  • CSP - Preferred
  • CHMM, and/or OHST - Desirable

  • Dress out in physically demanding personal protective equipment (PPE) for site entry at HAZWOPER sites as required under 29 CFR 1910.120
  • Wear half-face and full-face air purifying respirator (APR) as well as supplied air respirators in the form of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and hose supplied respirator with medical clearance as required under 29CFR 1910.134
  • Wear partially or totally encapsulating personal protective equipment
