About This Position

Perfect position for career growth! The Department of Medical Education at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Project Manager, Education and Research Support.

The Project Manager reports to the Associate Director of the Academy of Medical Education Scholars (AMES) and will play a key role in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all faculty scholarly projects within the Department of Medical Education. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of all educational research activities and provide support to educational faculty in the application for educational grants.


  • Creates and executes project work plans in collaboration with education faculty and leadership

  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of projects

  • Sets project milestones, tracks progress, performs quality control, and evaluates outcomes

  • Develops a corrective action plan when needed

  • Maintains project documents in an organized and secure manner

  • Writes project summaries and communicates progress with leadership to ensure project goals are being met

  • Contributes to the planning and management of project budgets

  • Manages intramural faculty grants programs

  • Supports education faculty in the submission of extramural faculty grants and the ongoing evaluation and reporting requirements of these grants

  • Supports education faculty in drafting education research protocols

  • Prepares and monitors relevant study IRB applications

  • Performs literature reviews

  • Provides statistical support to faculty engaged in educational research and scholarship

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis

  • Develops and implements processes for linking and analyzing data from a variety of internal and external medical education databases and sources

  • Maintains data files in a secure environment and ensures data integrity

  • Supports education faculty in the writing and submission of research manuscripts, development of oral and poster presentations, and other efforts to disseminate educational scholarship

  • Aids in the training of faculty on educational research and data analysis skills

  • Writes documentation for programs and operations

  • Supports the broader evaluation of our medical education curricula and learner outcomes through surveys, focus groups, observational studies, and other appropriate evaluation methodologies

  • Aids with the analysis and reporting of data from these evaluations

  • Contributes to the data collection for and reporting to internal and external constituencies and accreditation agencies


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in education or related field is preferred.

  • Three years of progressive experience in a Medical School environment in the area(s) of either medical education, project management, grant writing, or program development and evaluation.

  • Strong analytical skills and training in/experience with data gathering and analysis software such as SPPS, SAS or other statistical software

  • Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
