The University System Office seeks a Project Technical Coordinator to work closely with Project Grant Director and the Project Coordinator. The Technical Coordinator will provide technical and functional support to MyCreditsTransfer (MCT) participating institutions (including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, and Springfield) to implement and maintain Transferology as a part of the statewide project. The incumbent also maintains the MyCreditsTransfer.org and TransferREADY.org websites. In addition, the Technical Coordinator serves as a resource to the University of Illinois System for guidance on information technology and in performing tasks requiring IT skills. The Technical Coordinator serves the technical needs of various other programs and initiatives of the UAPS department, primarily in the areas of Web development and database management. Transferology is a web-based program that provides students with transfer articulation information.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assist institutions in implementing and maintaining Transferology systems. This activity includes: sharing technical expertise related to set-up and maintenance of Transferology; testing Transferology interfaces/functionalities and coordinating resolution of issues found for MCT participating institutions; updating program information stored in Transferology; working with participating institutions' articulation staff to create and update transfer equivalency rules using the established "flat file" process of verifying and normalizing transfer data; coordinating with CollegeSource to upload new transfer articulation rules; working with Illinois community colleges (CCs) to implement the Course Import interface between Transferology and CC's student information system web portal; maintaining technical support information for participating institutions on the MyCreditsTransfer.org/support site and public sites - MyCreditsTransfer.org and TransferREADY.org; and producing Google Analytics usage data for a variety of reports.
  • Contribute to quarterly grant activity reports.
  • Attend CollegeSource-sponsored workshops/Annual Users' Conference.
  • Serve as liaison between MCT, participating institutions, and CollegeSource technical staff.
  • Assist with training workshops and presentations as necessary.
  • Monitor statewide implementation using feedback from implementation/advisory team meetings, correspondence, and telephone calls.
  • Work with Illinois Board of Higher Education and Illinois Articulation Initiative to update websites related to transfer if needed.
  • Develop and maintain websites and web-based applications for the University of Illinois System.
  • Develop and maintain database tables for the University of Illinois System.
  • Develop and manage other Information Technology needs for University Academic Programs and Services at the University of Illinois System.
  • Other duties appropriate for a Technical Coordinator.


  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:
  • Any combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
  • progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
  • college course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
    • 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
    • 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years
    Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least two years of experience in transfer in higher education: such student information systems, degree audits systems etc.
  • Basic video and audio file editing experience.
  • Basic web-site development and/or editing experience.


  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, and advanced capability in Excel.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of collegiate transfer admissions, records analysis, or records management.
  • An understanding of system interface concepts and techniques.


  • SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
    This is a full-time Civil Service IT Technical Associate position appointed on a 12 month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after May 3, 2021 Salary is commensurate with experience.
