Job Title: Purchasing Agent

Job Summary: The Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiating with suppliers to purchase goods and services on behalf of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing of inventory and disposable inventory items
  • Purchasing of Galvanized materials
  • Coordinating deliveries and resolving shipping errors with suppliers
  • Purchasing of pipe, valve and fittings
  • Purchasing project materials and equipment
  • Understanding and educating individuals regarding National Purchasing agreements
  • Purchasing of vehicles and accessories
  • Researching new products to improve efficiencies
  • Researching and comparing suppliers, goods and services
  • Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs
  • Requesting cost proposals
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders
  • Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations
  • Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories
  • Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
  • Assist in solving quality issues with vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, finance or other business-related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Purchasing or related job functions preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
