The Purchasing Associate reports to the Purchasing Manager, and is located in Lewisville, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Purchasing Associate is responsible for managing all purchasing activities for the assigned suppliers/category such as item creation, accurate and timely purchase orders, working with suppliers and problem solving to ensure our customers get the best quality, complete and on-time deliveries. This position will work closely with the Purchasing team and requires attention to detail, analyzing data, great communication and follow through, proactive thinking and ownership of work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage daily purchasing reports and Initiate purchase orders and amendments for inventory and special ordered non-inventoried items
  • Arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required
  • Secure and analyze quotes
  • Follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery and proactive communication
  • Work with supplier partners and manage pricing, quality, fill rate and on-time delivery
  • Foster positive relationships and provide great customer service for both internal (Sales, Operations) and external (suppliers) customers
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies in timely manner
  • Participate in manufacturer training (internally and externally) with supervisor approval
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by Management

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, and energetic
  • Ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of foodservice equipment a plus
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
  • Ability to travel when needed

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Finance
  • 2+ years' experience in purchasing, inventory or finance role preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check
