Reporting Relationships

Directly reports to the Quality Manager and supervises hourly Lab Technicians.

About the Role

This role primarily has the authority to enforce corrective action and ensure these job expectations are met and enforced in order to facilitate environmental, safety and quality management systems.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the effectiveness of the plant's quality system, and ensure compliance with the standard and with the DCP's
  • Support Manager with Customer Concerns Process (customer claims and issues):
  • Facilitate RCAs, preventative actions, and responses
  • Manage all administrative requirements
  • Control returned inventory and initiate credit process
  • Maintain the Customer Concerns Log
  • Visit customers in response to complaints
  • Proactively identify issues (interaction with Sales, hold roll corrective action, etc.)
  • Build and maintain customer relationships
  • Serve as the process owner for selected procedures and all Daramic and customer specifications. Ensures Daramic meets these minimum requirements
  • Manage the lab User Guides, control plans, and evaluates production control plans where plant specific procedures apply
  • Manage the hold inventory to keep quality hold items at a minimum
  • Manage in-process specifications
  • Compute, analyze, and report monthly quality statistics
  • Provide technical support for the lab:
  • Act as the first point of contact for all technical issues
  • Troubleshoot measurement error and test equipment malfunctions
  • Procure spare parts and materials
  • Ensure maintenance of test equipment
  • Manage product development (for plant activities), product transfers, and raw material qualifications. Includes responsibility for new PID workflow, creating the appropriate specifications and ensuring the product can meet quality standards. Owner of SOR (sample order request) process for Quality
  • Ensure all material is in specification and up to customer standards to release for shipment
  • Ensure all raw materials are in compliance and COAs are retained
  • Initiate supplier SCARs (non-conformances)
  • Initiate internal deviations for non-conforming material to be submitted for approval
  • Promote quality ownership and responsibility among the Operations and Maintenance group
  • Act as the communication conduit between the customers and the plant
  • Ensure consistency among the Operations group in making subjective accept/reject decision
  • Maintain selected Quality Records (as defined by the DCP and PCP for Control of Quality Records)
  • Act as the ERP Key User for the Quality module
  • Provide all lab-specific technical training.
  • Manage retains
  • Manage Lab Workday applications
  • Weekly scrap reports and prep Quality weekly
  • Responsible for Lab Areas for 6S and participate in plant daily GEMBA walks
  • Prepare PPAP's for customer needs
  • Create statistical and or data reports as required, including quarterly Trace Elements reporting
  • Assist Manager with plant 4M process
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledgeable in Statistics and Mini-Tab Software
  • Interpretive Statistics and applications
  • ERP Quality Applications
  • Process knowledge to audit and critique
  • SharePoint usage and editing
  • Customer friendly
  • Fluent with hourly personnel

Working Conditions

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body.

Candidate Requirements

Education: BS degree in Science / Engineering is preferred

Professional Experience: 3-5 years QA experience in a manufacturing setting
