The Quality Manager, Contract Manufacturing, is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and management of all Quality Assurance programs at Ferrara contract manufacturing locations. The role leads hte development and implementation of the Ferrara Quality Management System, Food Safety Management system, and procedural requirements for contract manufacturing locations. Role is currently remote with plans to return to hybrid remote/in-person experience in 2022. Based out of the corporate office at the Old Post Office building in downtown Chicago. Travel to sites is approximately 40%.

Ways you will make a difference

• Provide technical expertise and support to ensure compliance to Ferrara Quality Management System, Food Safety Management System, FSMA and other regulatory requirements, and product quality requirements
  
• Utilize tools such as auditing, statistical and process evaluation, trend analysis, and coaching to achieve continuous improvement and business objectives
  
• Network cross-functionally within and outside Ferrara with experts in different food processing technologies and food safety systems.
  
• Coordinate resolution of Quality Management issues. This includes reporting on KPIs, corrective action plans, technical summaries, Management Review of Quality, held inventory disposition, etc.
• Ensure that established systems / procedures / protocols are adequate to provide for consistent product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. For new technologies, ensure food safety processes are validated.
• Evaluation and resolution of customer / consumer product quality issues.
• Routinely work with cross function groups such as Operations Managers, R&D, Food Safety, and Legal to establish and achieve business objectives. (Examples: Technical problem solving, new product launches, new suppliers). Maintain network of food safety experts to draw from when working with unfamiliar/new food processing technologies.
• Drive the development and implementation of contract manufacturing product manual, finished product specifications and training materials / programs.
• Conduct audits on existing and potential contract manufacturers, issue timely reports and drive corrective action follow-up and closure
• Provide technical support in contract manufacturer sourced product recall / withdrawals

Experiences that will support your success

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience of Quality and Food Safety experience within manufacturing setting
• HACCP Certification within six months of hire date is required
• Prior experience leading a team
• Working knowledge of Food Safety, GMPs, Allergen Controls, Sanitary design controls, pest control, basic food regulations, specifications, statistical analysis, and basic food technology
• Knowledge of FMSA requirements for food production facilities, including FSMA training, Lead Auditor training, or similar Food Safety Systems training
• PCQI and FSVP training preferred
• Registered auditor in GFSI benchmarked schemes preferred
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience using SAP preferred
