Purpose & Scope:

Entry level position in manufacturing engineering as part of our manufacturing training and development program assigned to quality department with a primary focus to improve inspection processes. This position will provide an excellent developmental opportunity with practical hands on projects contributing directly to the performance and success of the company. Develops and improves inspection processes by studying product and inspection methods. Drives product and process changes to ensure close tolerance machined parts meet drawing requirements to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing inspection processes with all required technical needs.
  • Working with both inspection supervisors and inspectors at all levels deploy inspection method enhancements.
  • Determine tooling fixture needs and work to design and assist in coordination of internal manufacturing or procurement.
  • Create and maintain both specific and general inspection methods plans to standardize inspection resulting in effective and efficient inspections on a consistent basis.
  • Establish and maintain job kitting which includes: Inspection Method Plans, Fixturing, and Programing.
  • Conduct inspection correlation studies between supplier inspection and Sargent inspection.
  • Conduct gage repeatability and reproducibility studies and assist in identifying appropriate inspection equipment.
  • Work with Inspection Supervisors and Design Engineering to ensure both legacy and development drawings can be inspected as dimensioned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering; Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Tool Design
  • Ability to read and create engineering drawings
  • Ability to use Pro-E or similar 3D modeling software
  • Good communication skills
  • MS Office applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues with minimal direct supervision
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen


Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Experience/working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and decipher manufacturing drawings and procedures
  • Intermediate materials knowledge
  • Working knowledge of solid modeling
  • Tooling drafting experience a plus


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer is necessary, sometimes for
    extended periods
  • Ability to safely move about in a variety of work environments, from office to
    manufacturing floor, and other
  • Ability to remain on a manufacturing shop floor, sometimes for extended
    periods, while meeting specified safety requirements (i.e., vision protection)
