What You Will Contribute:


This Quality Technician is responsible for testing materials and finished products to ensure they conform to all applicable laws and company standards. This position will test products across the three stages of production (before, in-process, and final) to ensure quality levels are met. Responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area. Communicates with supervisor his/her daily activities, anomalies in work areas, and unsafe conditions

Major Job Duties/Accountability:

  • Analyzes manufacturing problems, processes and product design to determine the root cause affecting the desired quality level of company products
  • Implements corrective actions required to obtain desired quality levels at the most economical cost
  • Coordinates prerelease controls on design, equipment and processes
  • Assists with the implementation of control plans to provide statistically acceptable quality levels of production
  • Program coordinate measuring machines (CMM) using CAD files
  • Sets up and operates automatic test equipment
  • Participates with Quality Engineer and Product Development Teams in introducing new products and processes
  • Conducts statistically designed experiments under Quality Engineering direction
  • Assists with the investigation of production and returned product to determine root causes, initiates corrective actions and appropriate documentation
  • Helps ensure that deviating product is reviewed and dispositioned and that inventory is kept current during this process
  • With the Quality Engineer, develops inspection accept/reject criteria, tooling, test equipment and gages to be used and writes inspection plans and instructions
  • May assist in determining machine process capabilities during new product/process development, new equipment purchases and, as needed, for existing products and processes
  • Will work with Production Engineering in creating and implementing hourly process/quality training

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience. Experience in a quality assurance environment preferred.
  • High School degree required. Two-year technical degree in Quality Assurance or Quality Control or ASQ CQT certification or equivalent preferred
  • ASQ (American Society of Quality) CQT certification or equivalent preferred
  • GDT (Geometric dimension and tolerance) experience preferred
  • Defines problems and causes and applies problem solving techniques
  • Requires a good knowledge of inspection methods, including layouts on a coordinate measuring machine, electrical testing processes and manufacturing processes
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Maintains open communication and positive working relationships with staff
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English

Working Conditions:
  • Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and complete an audiogram test
