We are searching for a Radiology Tech to join our team on a PRN basis. Initially, you may have the opportunity to work more hours in order to cover a planned leave of absence, and future full-time employment is possible. This position requires an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) Certification, and one (1) year related experience.

The Radiology Technician will work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services and is expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. The Radiology/X-Ray Technician performs radiographs to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
  • Performs routine diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed
  • Imports images from outside facilities into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Strong communication effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
  • Can accept suggestions and recommendations
