AkzoNobel Coatings Inc. has a great opportunity for a Regional Segment Manager, Architecture NA located at our Regional HQ in Nashville, TN or any NAM AkzoNobel site location.

  • Regional responsibility & ownership for the segment ensuring setting & delivery of regional mandate in alignment with the global segment mandate.
  • Contributes to the revenue and profitability targets for the segment by using and coordinating (with relevant BU marketing experts) all marketing levers such as strategy, Go To Market Models, Innovation, Portfolio management, Brand management, Communications, Digital, Color, etc.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy definition and implementation
  • Formulates the Regional Segment Marketing Plan in close coordination with the regional marketing manager and BU Segment manager assuring alignment with global segment strategy and marketing plan
  • Monitors regional revenue and profitability performance for the segment vis a vis agreed mandate, conducts financial analysis to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Translates new market developments and trendssuch as sustainability, digital and color trends into strategies and action plans
  • Provides guidance to the region in the implementation and execution of segment strategy
  • Works closely together with key stakeholders such as the Regional Marketing Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Specification Sales team and Key Account Managers to ensure translation of segment strategy into operational action planning
  • Monitors implementation of the regional plans and drives course correction where needed

Product portfolio alignment
  • Takes ownership to launch new products, services, communications, and digital solutions into the market
  • Provides input to strategic direction and optimization opportunities of the regional product portfolio to the Regional and Global Product Manager
  • As an owner of the regional product portfolio, ensures the implementation of the innovation process for the segment in in cooperation with Global Product manager
  • Translates for the region the product branding / naming structure provided by the BU Segment Manager
  • Participation in IBP monthly regional PMR to update on project progress
  • Take ownership of marketing collateral for product portfolio

Customer proximity
  • Gets in depth understanding of customer needs within the region as well as for key customers through market research, including Voice of Customer discussions and interactions with regional sales team
  • Translates needs into clear value propositions and develops these propositions in close cooperation with Global BU Segment Manager
  • Gives insights and customer needs back to BU to secure applicable innovation roadmap
  • Maintains close contact with regional sales organizations to ensure market input is gathered
  • Supports implementation of sales process improvements like CRM and Customer Needs Based Segmentation

Commercial guidance
  • Is a champion of the Interpon brand and presents portfolio internally and at times externally
  • Leads the change with Social Media and other online marketing tools
  • Provides warranty guidance based on consultation with sales and R&D
  • Provides pricing input to the pricing excellence contact when needed
  • Be familiar with all applicable corporate and site policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE standards and always in compliance with all applicable regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Business
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing planning and execution
  • Experience with strategy definition and implementation
  • Proven ability to turn ideas into structured action plans and execute these plans at a tactical level
  • Proven project and change management experience
  • Analytical mind with good financial acumen
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to interface effectively with stakeholders across all levels in- and outside of the organization
  • Willingness to search for regional and customer insights that can enable formulation of optimal value propositions
  • Affection with colors, finishes and effects
  • Experience in the Architectural or Building Industry is valued but not a must
  • Proficient skills in MS office (word, excel, PowerPoint, eager to work with various and new IT solutions, including Social Media
