Summary:

-Performs electroencephalograph (EEG) testing.

Responsibilities:

Reviews patient's history and educates patient about procedure. Monitors and documents patient's condition and responds to and reports any seizure symptoms.

Performs long-term video EEG monitoring on patients, demonstrating proficiency in the International 10-20 system. Performs job functions following the Guidelines for EEG and Long Term Neuro-Diagnostic Monitoring in Epilepsy as set by the American Society of Electro-Neuro-Diagnostic Technologists.

Performs data retrieval and reduction operations and video EEG recordings prepared in a form suitable for interpretation by the physician.

Identifies and corrects artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.

Attaches and connects electrodes on the head and EEG machine. Performs prescribed testing.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Accredited Program: Electroencephalograph (Required)BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT) - American Board of Registration of EEG Technologist (ABRET)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of EEG experience (which can include time in clinicals). Other Information: Additional Education Info: Graduate of an Electro-neuro-diagnostic technology program accredited by Commission Accreditation on Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Equivalent EEG training program.
