Unit 3-4 is a 20-bed progressive unit providing a higher flexible acuity level of patient care. A step-down unit for Intensive Care Units, our area of focus includes complex medical and post op surgical care with class 1 telemetry monitoring. Specialized training includes CORE EKG classes, ACLS, respiratory support class, and PD. We utilize a team relationship-based care model designed to provide a consistent support system. Cross training with our Intensive Care units, allows for a great opportunity to broaden your knowledge and competency skills while enhancing your area of expertise in support of our Critical Care population.

What you will do:
  • Therapeutic med/surge nursing interventions and hands on skills including class I telemetry, cardiac drips, respiratory support with trach/vent care, PD and more. Patient education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning.
  • Collaborative team approach: SNAP rounds daily with interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.
Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York with one year of experience. Graduates from an accredited school of nursing or newly licensed RN's (less than one-year experience) should apply to our Graduate Nurse position.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Participates in orientation, continuing education, updates, and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Physical Demands:
  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Supervised By:
  • Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.
