Excited to grow your career?

The Reliability Engineer has ongoing duties related to maintenance data and processes. However, with much of that data and most of those processes currently lacking, the initial demands of this role will center on implementing maintenance and reliability processes and collecting quality data. These implementations will stretch across the PM business and are expected to continue for the next 5 years, with a slow transition to steady state role activities as Materion matures in its Maintenance Excellence Program.

In a mature maintenance steady state environment, the Reliability Engineer originates and develops analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes. Specifically, acquiring and analyzing data, preparing diagrams/charts/drawings/reports to define reliability problems and making recommendations for improvements. The Reliability Engineer conducts analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for the particular situation, with consideration given to cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and weight, size and availability of materials/equipment. Determines cost advantages of alternatives and develops action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to avoid failures.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Implement Maintenance Excellence Initiatives: Lead, facilitate, and train site personnel on new maintenance and reliability processes. Monitor data to ensure quality and knowledge retention. This will require travel between facilities. As the Maintenance organization matures, this task transitions to specific analysis projects.
  • Develop and Lead CMMS Training related to Maintenance and Reliability Initiatives: In support of capturing data around Maintenance Excellence Initiatives or Projects, work to create/modify CMMS specific training to ensure quality data entry.
  • Perform Data Analysis: In support of various maintenance initiatives/projects, perform data analysis and provide recommendations on where to close data gaps, as well as ensure greater data quality, while providing best recommendations and trends to show the path forward.
  • Develop and Provide Input to Future Maintenance Initiatives: Engage in discussions with PM site maintenance managers and provide input to the Maintenance Excellence Steering Team on future Maintenance and Reliability rollouts, based on information gathered through time onsite, CMMS knowledge, and data analysis.
  • Perform Specific analysis on critical, problematic equipment: As requested for critical business lines, perform deeper dive failure analysis and provide recommendations. While small at first, this part of the role is expected to naturally grow as initiatives are implemented and data becomes readily available to the point where this part of the role becomes 50%.
  • Support Maintenance Excellence Team: Provide input, insight, and analysis to support ongoing team rollouts and development of future initiatives/projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required Education: Bachelor's in Engineering
  • Preferred Education: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering degree
  • Required Experience: 2+ years' experience
  • Preferred Experience: 3+ years as a Reliability Engineer; Maintenance Experience/History as a Technician, Supervisor, Planner, or other role
  • Required Skills: Presentation skills, Organization Skills, verbal and written communication skills; High MS Excel proficiency, general MS Office products, and CMMS - computerized maintenance management software
  • Preferred Skills: Indirect leadership and team skills; Maintenance and Reliability certifications (CMRT, CMMT, CRL, Planning courses, etc.)
