Repair Development Engineer III

Position Summary:
Inspects, analyzes and develops repairs of tubes, ducts and manifolds defined by OEM manuals, customer requirements, FAA, EASA, CAAC and industry expertise, incorporated into internal work packages. Performs root cause analysis to determine damage from customer product, warranty returns and supports continuous improvement utilizing standard tools and in additional XRF, FPI, and CMM data. Applies experience with broad range of OEM manuals supporting development of various types of repair certifications. Must be able to organize and manage multiple priorities in a in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work within a team environment with excellent communication skills.

Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops Major and RS DER repairs, develops non-book repairs.
  • Researches data for the development of Engineering records, is responsible for reviewing department Engineering records.
  • Supports development of SAR and PMA packages
  • Supports R&D of our products including analysis and qualification testing.
  • Manages and accountable for projects of varying scopes from repair product to Airtomic designed product, including coordinating with internal and offsite resources, suppliers, customers, design reviews, and customer proposals.
  • Integral team member in marketing efforts and business development.
  • Interface with customers, evaluate RFQ’s, write technical proposals, and develop NRE cost.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 10+ years’ experience with tubes, ducts and manifolds.
  • High degree of working knowledge of Engine and Aircraft manuals and ability to integrate manuals in the creation of FAA DER repairs.
  • FAA DER or immediately able to begin training for the FAA approval of becoming an FAA DER.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – BSME, with an emphasis on the manufacturing processes used in the manufacture of our product.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and working in a matrix organization.
  • Must possess working knowledge of FAR regulations and their applications.
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced Excel, Power point and MS Word skills
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, experience managing technical contributors and engineers, project management experience.
  • Experience w/ business and department key performance measurement methods.
  • Experienced in planning, defining, scheduling, and measuring workload performance.
  • Understanding of quality systems, configuration management systems, and data management systems.


Travel – 10% to 25%

Reporting to this Position:

  • None


Relationships:

  • Reports to Engineering Manager
  • Daily interaction with Receiving Inspection, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Customer Service

  • DMIR or DAR-F
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
