POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position is primarily responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of various types of equipment in various trades.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Basic repair and maintenance knowledge in painting, electrical, various types of refrigeration and HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, rough carpentry, locks and plumbing
Working with hand, power tools, ladders, electricity, machinery, hazardous chemicals in various areas ranging from slippery surfaces, confined spaces, loud noises, extreme heat and cold.
Able to be trained and assist in repair and maintain all aspects of a commercial building facility
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Periodic preventive maintenance.
Basic knowledge with working on other equipment requiring basic knowledge of gas and electrical, (i.e. fryers, steamers, grills, etc.)
Performs various other equal level duties reflecting the same level of skill, knowledge.
When a system malfunctions, be able to diagnose the problem, make repairs through a variety of methods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Scheduling:
Work 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Able to work nights and weekends when necessary to complete project.
Able to be on-call for after-hour emergencies.
Physical Ability:
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Work will involve a lot of physical labor (i.e. lifting, bending, reaching, stretching, etc.)
Will be required to stand/ walk for up to 8 hours/day.
Good hand eye coordination especially with using tools and equipment.
Mental Ability:
Reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending the English language
Ability to read and follow detailed plans
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Passed a tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 5 years of the start date.
Pass a drug screening test and physical.
Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
Must possess a valid type 3 Hawaii Driver's License
Must have own basic tools
Environmental Conditions:
Outdoors on roofs tops
Indoors inside freezers and refrigerators
Must be able to work in hot and cold environments
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Be able to possess an EPA certification for working with refrigeration Freon gas
Experience:
At Least one (3) years of experience in general maintenance or in a specific trade.
Desired Skills:
Proficient in the repair of ice machines, exhaust fans, air conditioning, kitchen equipment and refrigeration units
AMP probe usage
Good communication skills
Rough carpentry skills
Desired Attributes:
Work with a group to meet repair or construction deadlines
Resourceful in resolving repair problems
Willingness to learn and perform various other jobs
Be able to work effectively with personnel at the stores
Two years through post-secondary education
